Office Updates

Chromebook Return

This year the Chromebook returns will happen on Friday, June 16th for 5th and 7th grade, and Tuesday, June 20th for 8th grade during ELA classes. Returns for 6th grade will be on Wednesday, June 21st during the locker cleanout. Several days prior to the return date, student Chromebooks and chargers will remain in the classroom. Teachers will communicate those dates to students in class. Returning Middle School students will be reissued the same Chromebook next year. Students will have a Google Form to fill out that will let them share anything that is wrong with the Chromebook so that the Technology Department can fix those things before they give it back to your student in the fall.

Service Day 2023

Service Day 2023 was a great day in the MS! We gardened, built furniture, spruced up the campus, made snacks, and connected as a community. Many thanks to the PTO for their generous support and to our volunteers and community partners!

School Nutrition

Though school meals are no longer subsidized for every student, free and reduced-priced meals are available to those who qualify. The application can be found HERE.

To add funds to your child’s school lunch account, you can use our online system at MySchoolBucks or you can send a check directly to the TCSD Food Service Department. Students may always pay cash if they choose to as well.

What’s for lunch? Check My School Menus

ELA: This week in ELA students happily received a name of a 4th grader to write a friendly letter to. The letter will not only welcome, but also inform the 4th graders about transitioning to their first year in middle school. We also wrapped up our historical fiction novel and turned in our books! This was a GREAT unit!!!

Math: This week is a special week as it marks the beginning of June, and thus the end of the year! We have continued our final unit in both classes. Math 7 will continue our Geometry unit and work on triangle inequality and area. Pre-Algebra continues working on linear equations and next week, we will discuss systems of equations!

World Languages: Ms.Cederstrom’s classes have been reviewing for the final assessment over the last few weeks. Students will have a chance to show off their speaking skills starting this week with the interpersonal speaking assessment. We will also continue to prepare for the listening, reading, and writing portions of this assessment, which will be administered the following week. Resources are available in Google Classroom for any student who would like extra practice outside of class.

Music: We will pick up with guitar again this week after a week off due to field trips and various other school activities that happened during class time. We will be preparing for our first playing quiz and moving on to learn a little electric bass.

7/8 Band: WHAT A FANTASTIC CONCERT!!!! The 7/8 Band did an outstanding job! Last lessons of the year are this week. Please remember to bring your instrument back to school for rehearsal on Monday.

Students are expected to complete their essay examining the conditions and ideologies that made The Holocaust possible. They’re also expected to upload their completed interview (video, audio, or transcript) as the last submission to their ePortfolios. ePortfolio conferences will serve as the ELA final, giving students an opportunity to demonstrate their work throughout 8th grade and exhibit areas of growth, as well as ELA goals for next year.

Social Studies: Students will soon be picking a Cold War topic to research and present -- this is a chance for them to be creative!

Health 8: The current unit: HIV, STIs and Pregnancy Prevention has begun. This week students learned about affirmative consent, consent laws, what are and how to prevent STIs and HIV. Next week Health 8 will host the high school Natural High club who will present their mission and engage students in a lesson on the dangers of vaping. The current unit with additional lessons will continue after the DC trip. Students will learn from a condom use demonstration and may volunteer (though not required) to practice correct application on a 3D model.
