Office Updates

From Ms. Amodeo

Welcome to the last week of the 22-23 school year!!

Please search your home and return all library books, Chromebooks, and chargers to school as soon as possible.

Final report cards and iReady screening reports will be mailed home this week.

The 8th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony is this Wednesday, 6/21, at 6:30pm in the Elementary School Auditorium.

Wishing all of our Tburg families a restful and rejuvenating summer break!

Chromebook Return

Chromebook returns will happen on Tuesday, June 20th for 8th grade and Wednesday, June 21st for 6th grade. Returning Middle School students will be reissued the same Chromebook next year. Students will have a Google Form to fill out that will let them share anything that is wrong with the Chromebook so that the Technology Department can fix those things before they give it back to your student in the fall.

ELA: ELA: This week students had some time working in the kitchen with Ms. Brisson and Mr. Buck. After considerable research we found commonalities from all fourteen books that were read during our historical fiction unit. We made a special cornmeal biscuit as a tribute to the historical/geographical settings of our novels. On Wednesday, June 21 we will enjoy our treats with fruit compote & homemade whipped cream!

Band: Congratulations on a wonderful spring concert and bravo to the parent band. They must have had great teachers. :) Lessons are over for the year.

Students will also be turning their Chromebooks in on Wednesday. Please make sure they have chargers with them as well.

Band: Congratulations on a wonderful spring concert. Mrs. Posegate is so proud of all the work you did this year and you are very ready for seventh grade! Bravo! Lessons are over for the year.

Our Field Trip to Taughannock

Science: Only a few more days! This last week we will be going to the pond on Tuesday to return the biosphere creatures we collected in the early weeks of the school year; hiking, playing and taking an excursion on the Floating Classroom on our field trip Wednesday; and Thursday is a day of goodbyes and celebration. Thank you everyone for a great year!

Social Studies: Our last full week of Social Studies! We are wrapping up the Civil War with discussions on the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, and the 13th Amendment. We will end the year with an overview of Reconstruction, including the work of Radical Republicans and the backlash in the South.

Music: Congratulations on completing your music requirement for Middle School! Have a great summer!

7/8 Band: Band party is Monday, 6/19! See your e-mail for details. Hope to see you all there! Click here for information about summer music programs and lessons. Happy Summer!

ELA 8: Students met with me for end-of-the-year ePortfolio conferences. Students each had 5 minutes to meet with me, using their ePortfolio to exhibit growth in ELA throughout 8th grade. Extra credit activities are available, a creative Minecraft building challenge and/or writing a speech for the Moving-Up Ceremony. It was wonderful spending time with students in DC!

Health 8: Students concluded the final unit on Friday, 6/16 with a knowledge & application assessment (presented in scenario challenges with choice available). Assessment make-up is scheduled for Tues, 6/20 for those who may have been absent on Friday. Congratulations to students and families – looking forward to seeing so many of the student accomplishments showcased at the high school next year!
